VMWare Workstation - Virtual Network Device service error

I have installed VMWare workstation, however, at the Kernel Module Updater process, I have received the following error following the failure to start the Virtual Network Device:

Unable to start services.

See log file /tmp/vmware-root/modconfig-13191.log for details.
When attempting to start the vmware service manually, I see the following:

In the log, I am seeing the following:

Is there anything that stands out indicating that I may have overlooked any part of the installation, or failed to install a dependency for these modules? I've never setup VM software on a Linux system before (usually the other way around), so I'm not entirely sure what to look for specifically.

Hello and welcome to LinuxQuestions,

What version of VMWare Workstation are you installing?

Looking forward to your participation in the forums. Have fun with Linux.

Kind regards,

Eric

Thank you.

I have VMWare Workstation 8.0.3 installed in Ubuntu 12.04.

Hi,

I know that VMWare Workstation 8.0.2 has problems with the 3.2 (and up) kernels from personal experience. Did you run a patch on your installation's VMWare modules? If not, you can download what's needed from here for the 3.2 kernel which from your output you seem to be using. Check the contents of the tar file, if I'm not mistaking it contains a README file. If you don't know how to proceed after downloading then let me know and I'll post the procedure.

Kind regards,

Eric
