VMware sound issue with Cmedia 8738 pci card
I have VMware installed on my Kubuntu 6.06 release, with windows 98 as a guest OS. I would much rather have w2k or Xpoop as my guest OS, but every time I attempt to install them or get them installed, I get an error popup saying it cant initialize the sound due to the driver/device being already in use. Does anyone know anything about this or a possibility on how to fix it?
System Specs: AMD Sempron64 2600+ ECS K8M800 M2 (v3) 768mb DDR 400 200gb Maxtor SATA 120gb Maxtor IDE ATI Radeon 9200 Cmedia PCI 8738 6ch various other random bits connected via usb |
Does this error show up all the time? I see it only when using sound on the host. I have two sound cards and assign dsp1 to the vmware machine, to resolve the conflict.
For a software fix the documentation might provide some clues. |
