Question VMware question

I am running VMware with my host OS as Windows 2000. I have Linux as my guest OS. The question is: can I link the two so that I can run anything from 2000 on Linux? Can I link to the web using AOL that is on 2000, or do I need to find software for Linux only? Linux is recognizing my Ethernet card, and it says it is configured ok (I think). Well any help would be appreciated..............Thanks

Ok, what are you asking here? You want to dial your AOL isp and have Linux (guest) connect to the internet through Windows (host)? This is quite possible... I think. You will need to set up virtual networking between the host and guest OSs, and then have internet connection sharing enabled in Windows, and have Linux connect to the host (Windows) OS as a gateway.

I think that's right... anyone else care to add?

I have a laptop with Linux and Windows Guests and both can access the web via the VM hosts network. Use NAT when you create or modify the VM Guest and if your ISP requires DNS defs then you have to set the DNS IP addresses into the corect places. Otherwise I would refrain from making any other definitin sin the guest IP/Network/internet settings.
