VMware not detecting cd

VMware will NOT detect my CD, if I set it to /dev/cdroms/cdrom0, cdrom1 (I have 2 drives), /dev/cdrom, and /mnt/cdrom(1)...

I have no idea what's wrong, it just won't initialize the CD... It does not find any CD devices in the BIOS settings... But it used to, since I installed one virtual machine off of a CD... Any ideas?

EDIT: I use Gentoo and am no newbie...

Nope, didn't work, I'm going to remove .vmware from my home dir and see if it helps...

EDIT: That didn't either...

EDIT: Also, it does seem that VMware is not adding a CD-Drive by checking the BIOS settings... I don't get to choose drives in the BIOS... It just says 'CD Drives'... No expansion or anything... Don't know if it's supposed to be that way or not...

Did you mount the cdrom drive? I was having the same problem, but I tried ejecting it and not mounting it, then running the virtual machine again. That seemed to do the trick (using /dev/cdrom)

Sorry, can't remember. It's been a number of months. I've signed up for the VMWare public beta and am eager to test. If the problem reoccurs, I'll get back to you.

It says I might have to wait 2 weeks for my serial number for beta .
