VMware not detecting cd
VMware will NOT detect my CD, if I set it to /dev/cdroms/cdrom0, cdrom1 (I have 2 drives), /dev/cdrom, and /mnt/cdrom(1)...
I have no idea what's wrong, it just won't initialize the CD... It does not find any CD devices in the BIOS settings... But it used to, since I installed one virtual machine off of a CD... Any ideas? EDIT: I use Gentoo and am no newbie... |
try /dev/hdc or /dev/hdd or if scsi /dev/scd0 or /dev/scd1

Nope, didn't work, I'm going to remove .vmware from my home dir and see if it helps...
EDIT: That didn't either... EDIT: Also, it does seem that VMware is not adding a CD-Drive by checking the BIOS settings... I don't get to choose drives in the BIOS... It just says 'CD Drives'... No expansion or anything... Don't know if it's supposed to be that way or not... |

Did you mount the cdrom drive? I was having the same problem, but I tried ejecting it and not mounting it, then running the virtual machine again. That seemed to do the trick (using /dev/cdrom)

Sorry, can't remember. It's been a number of months. I've signed up for the VMWare public beta and am eager to test. If the problem reoccurs, I'll get back to you.
It says I might have to wait 2 weeks for my serial number for beta :(. |
