vmware - make a usb key required for software license available?

We have vmware installed with some Windows virtual environments running a software that requires a usb key license to run.

Is there a way to make such a usb key license available to any or all of the virtual environments?

VMware and USB

I'm making an assumption here that you're running VMWare's ESX server. IF that's the case, the answer is no. While the free version of vmware will allow you to hook up to USB ports, this one won't (and you paid money for that one). It just doesn't map through. Some of the things I've tried is an external USB like USB anywhere, and etc., something that will require an IP Address and such, and which can be ran from almost any machine. Problem is, these solutions cost a bit, and may not work for you. Here's the link for USB anywhere. Don't know if it gives you a trial period or not: http://www.softforall.com/Utilities/...re09090268.htm

Now something I've had a little bit of sucess with is to plug the USB key into a separate system (windows XP box), and map it as a drive or folder. Doesn't always work, but sometimes it does.
