Unhappy VMware guru plz help!

Hi, i am having problems when i tried to install winxp within vmware.
or try to boot from existing winxp partitions within vmware.

Here is a little background info.
I have setup a dual-boot system Winxp pro and FC3.
Everything works fine with the system boot, and i am able to boot up these OSs using grub

I installed vmware workstation 4.5.2 on FC3 (since i want it to be the host system). I tried both virtual disk or physical disk setting.

For virtual disk:
When i boot within vmware, the vmware bios seems to be bypassing cdrom boot.. ( i did change the bios boot sequence to cdrom first)

For physical disk:
I added the existing winxp pro partition to vmware and tried to boot from vmware... all i am getting is "grub" hang, and if i tried to boot from cdrom, i am still getting the same error. But, floppy boot seems to be working fine. I dare not try to install winxp again through floppy boot, since it might ruin the grub loader.

Please help!!....
Feeling helpless..
