Does anybody know if it's possible to copy and paste from my Vista host and my OpenSUSE 11.1 virtual guest or vice-versa, running in VMWARE Workstation 6.5.
I have VMWARE tools installed and can run the properties box by typing 'vmware-toolbox &' in a terminal window.

My hardware is a Toshiba Laptop so I mostly ise the touchpad/mouse but I also tried by attachine an external USB mouse and nothing. I am simply trying to copy normal text from the Vista clipboard into the VI text editor or vice versa. I've posted this question on another forum but haven't got a response.

I'd really appreciate some help on this as I have tried numerous suggestions from other threads but no luck yet. I guess patience is a virtue when you're a linux noobie.

Is there something that needs to be configured in xorg.conf to get this to work on either a laptop touchpad or a USB mouse?

Have you tried installing the guest-additions package? It usually solves these sorts of problems with XP host / Linux guest, though I've never tried it on a Vista system. To do this, go to the "Devices" menu once the VM is running and fully booted and click "Install Guest Additions". this will mount an ISO in Linux, in the ISO will be an install folder, install the guest additions and see if that works!

Guest additions? Isn't that for Virtualbox? I have VMWARE 6.5 with VMWARE tools installed.

Oh geez! Sorry, I totally misread that- I've been working in virtualbox these past few days and I didn't notice that you said VMWare. I'm afraid I don't have as much experience with VMWare... sorry
