VMware Config. header files?

I am trying to install vmware and running into the same problem over and over when runing config.pl

. i get this
'
none of the pre-built vmmon modules for VMware Workstation is suitable for your
running kernel. Do you want this program to try to build the vmmon module for
your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)?

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]

The path "/usr/src/linux/include" is not an existing directory.

I have no idea what these files are. can anyone help me out i really need this program. i read all the docs on the intstall. nothing regarding this that i can find.

What distro are you running? It's been a while for me since the last time i installed vmware, but as i recall, you need the kernel source code and gcc. Install the kernel source code for the currently-running kernel. It should go to /usr/src/linux-x.x.x. Then make a link to that folder:

# cd /usr/src
# ln -s linux-x.x.x linux
