VMWARE & Red Hat 8.0
Has anyone tried to run VMWARE with Red Hat 8.0 hosting Windows XP? If so, can you tell me what to look out for?
Thanks in advance.! Mista |
I'm using it right now. It mostly works just fine when it's up, but I am getting errors (crash) when trying to turn off the VM. I have sent in a report to VMware with my vmware.log.

Below is a url of a package that updates the module code for vmware. It contains fixes that should make VMware work great with RedHat 8.0.

I'm using the patch and it works great!

vmware 4 Red Hat 8 problem
By default one is supposed to drag and drop files from the host to the guest. I have no idea why it doesnt work in my case. I installed the vmware-tools so that my mouse arrow runs "on fly", so I assume the installation have been a kind of correct. Has anybody an idea or the same expirience?
My host is WinXP my guest system is Red Hat 8.0 linux. In addition, theres a problem to run this constelation on a laptop. |
First of all, what version of VMware are you running? I have not verified this, but you may need to configure host filesystem sharing in order for this to work. I have to admit that I have never actually tried to drag-n-drop files directly between host and guest systems, I always use networking to do it.
