VMWare 4.5 -> vmware-config.pl after each reboot!

Hi all!

I'm having a strange problem with VMware on Mandrake 10.1 Official, kernel 2.6.8.1-12mdksmp. (I had the same problem on Mandrake 10.0 though)

Everytime I reboot, the kernel modules seem to get lost or something. I get the "run vmware-config.pl" message each time I start VMWare after a reboot.

Then I run it, and VMWare runs fine. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Vorik [NL]

Can't help you out but I have the same problem. I'm using kernel 2.6.7 with VMware 4.5.2 on Debian SID. It might be something with the 2.6.x kernel.

I had the demo version for awhile and it did that. I just assumed it was a "feature" to get me to pay for it.

I resolved this by putting the vmware-config.pl script in my /etc/rc.local script, with a file that produces the enters.

1) make a textfile with only enters in it. (about 10 should be fine)
2) add the following line to your rc.local:

vmware-config.pl < [file-with-enters]

Then the issue should be resolved.

Greetings,
Vorik

It seems that you must run the following command to resolve this problem (vmware site source) : vmware-config.pl --compile
