VLC player skips and does not play some files?
 

I installed VLC due to the positive things ive read about it.
When I try to play any vid, any type, it starts to play then pauses 2 seconds at the same point on any file I play, then continues to play. Ive tried it on nvidia and ati cards with the same results.
also, it does not play some file at all but parole and xine play them just fine.

anyone have an idea of how to fix these issues??

what version of vlc is this ? ( 2.0 just came out)
is this Ubuntu ?( icon under your name ) or slack ? - in your signature

how did you install vlc ?
deb,or source ? or what ?
if slack was it alienBOB's package ?

Its version 1.1.12, I am using ubuntu and I used the ubuntu software center to download it.
I did not know a new version was out I will give that a try. Thanks.

I tried to upgrade to version 2 but I cannot, tried sofware manager, through apt-get and from graphical instructions on the vlc website and nothing does it. I unistalled it and it seems to not want to uninstall completely.

Oh well Ill try xine or mplayer. Thanks anyway
