"VLC is not supposed to be run as root. Sorry.
If you need to use real-time priorities and/or privileged TCP ports
you can use vlc-wrapper (make sure it is Set-UID root first and
cannot be run by non-trusted users first)."

You can make an OS as safe as possible,
but you can't make it fool proof

Then please quit that behaviour. The root account is for systems configuration and maintenance. It's not your playground. Go use an unprivileged user account. If you won't because it gives you errors then go fix those errors and don't use the root account as some workaround. If you won't because it requires you to follow UNIX standards for doing things then by all means use another operating system.
