(VLC) how to remove top & bottom black bars
 
VLC, ubuntu 10.04
i was wonderin when watchin a movie how do i remove the black bars that are on top & bottom of the screen?

you mean black sections that appear with widescreen movies or some bug that make black bar in fullscreen?

try with other players too.

while video is playing right click video / aspect ratio
change the aspect ratio
minimal view
fullscreen

i mean when u play them in widescreen not a bug....i have a widesreen tv with a built in dvd player....when i burn a movie and play it threw the dvd player the black bars dont show up when i hook up the computer to the tv & play the same movie the black bars show up......i tried the aspect ratio & changed it fullscreen but it still there.

in VLC, press c to crop the image, so if there are black bars on top and below, it will cut [most of] them off. The best thing to do is cut it to your screens aspect ratio, ie. cut it to 16:9 so you can get the widest in fullscreen and be sure that you're not cutting anything off.
