VLC crashes on 2nd video

When I use VLC it works fine for one video, but when I try to open a second video it fails. dmesg has this:

vlc[10247]: segfault at 00000019 eip 08067653 esp b74f2310 error 4

FWIW, I can replay the currently loaded video. Also, changing the audio output module (as another thread suggested) didn't help.

It's: VLC version 0.8.6g

Thanks

Off the top of my head, it sounds like you might be having an issue with codecs. I would suggest that you look at what the differences are between the working and the non-working video, which should shed some light on the issue.

I don't think it's the codecs since when I restart VLC I can load and play the file fine. Also, if I try to relaod the current file I have the same problem.

Here's something I just discovered. I set VLC as the default player for .avi. When I use Konqueror to open a video file it plays fine. I can then open and play another video without a problem. But when I try to open a second video (third to play, second to open), the problem returns. I'm wondering now if the problem is with my WM (Xfce)?
