vixie-cron issues

My crontab looks like this:

Code:
# min hour date month dayofweek command
0 0 * * * emerge sync
And my log shows this:
Code:
Dec 17 00:00:01 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) CMD (emerge sync)
Dec 17 00:00:01 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) CMD (rm -f /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.hourly)
Dec 17 00:10:01 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) CMD (test -x /usr/sbin/run-crons && /usr/sbin/run-crons )
                - Last output repeated twice -
Dec 17 00:24:49 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) MAIL (mailed 137713 bytes of output but got status 0x0001_)
Dec 17 00:30:01 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) CMD (test -x /usr/sbin/run-crons && /usr/sbin/run-crons )
                - Last output repeated 3 times -
Dec 17 01:00:01 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) CMD (rm -f /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.hourly)
Dec 17 01:10:01 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) CMD (test -x /usr/sbin/run-crons && /usr/sbin/run-crons )
                - Last output repeated 5 times -
Dec 17 02:00:01 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) CMD (rm -f /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.hourly)
Dec 17 02:10:01 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) CMD (test -x /usr/sbin/run-crons && /usr/sbin/run-crons )
                - Last output repeated 5 times -
Dec 17 03:00:01 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) CMD (rm -f /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.hourly)
Dec 17 03:01:02 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) CMD (rm -f /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.daily)
Dec 17 03:10:01 [/usr/sbin/cron] (root) CMD (test -x /usr/sbin/run-crons && /usr/sbin/run-crons )
                - Last output repeated 5 times -
The mail command *was* in there until I realized I forgot to setup postfix and took it out, which explains the mail output.

This is a gentoo server box and I wanted it to sync at midnight. But apparently didn't run because my other box syncs to this server, and the timestamps are still the same, which means it didn't sync. Help?

Nevermind, it *DID* run. I also have a cron app running on my local machine to sync at 1 AM, update, then shutdown. What threw me off is that it didn't shutdown, so I thought it didn't run. But it didn, it updated and synced, *but* didn't shutdown, I'll figure that part out, thanks anyway.
