VirtualBox+3D Card, can I get them to work together?

I have a quick question. I am using VirtualBox and I have XP installed, actually I will have it reinstalled shortly. Before I do this. Is there a way I can get VirtualBox to directly use my 256 MB Nvidia 6200 GeForce? The last time I tried it the games I wanted to install, or Virtual worlds like Cybernet Worlds, would not work at all, extreme lag or it would freeze. I am hoping I can get it to connect directly to my Nvidia card, even if it is only using half of the cards memory.

Setting this up with a VMware server, would that work better or about the same?

I believe that any VM software will result the same. VM machines cant access the hardware directly, thats why you always have lag and slow frame rate!

[]īs, FMC!

I was afraid of that, lol.

You can't do 3d hardware acceleration on vm, unless you have VMware Fusion on a Mac

VMware

:study:...
Actually *partial* 3d acceleration is supported by VMware player/server in an "experimental" state.

check out easyvmx for setting up a vm. it defaults to 64mb video but you can up it by changing the video mem value in the .vmx file to 131072 from 65536.

Hope that helps

This is worth checking out and playing around with. Thanks.
