I've just given up on getting glftpd to work with fxp on my box, so I'm considering using proftpd. However, I need support for virtual users so that my box doesn't get littered with accounts. Does proftpd support that? I couldn't find any references to virtual users in the manual.

If proftpd doesn't support virtual users, what other ftpds are there that support them, except for glftpd and pure-ftpd? It needs to be very configurable (which pure-ftpd is not) and most of all it needs to support fxp (which I couldn't get to work properly on glftdp).

What do you mean by virtual users. Do you mean users only allowed to download. Or only users that are part of a specific group.

I've installed proftpd on 3 machines and I've found it the "easiest" to cofigure to how you want it. My recommendation is that or vsftpd however I've never gotten vsftpd to work.
