Virtual graphical console

I'm looking for something that looks easy, I would like to be able to start a program on a nother virtual screen. You know, those f8-f9-f10... that remain desperately black

I would also like to be able to do that with the virtual desktops (thos ctr+alt+left/right stuff).

If anyone could help, it would be great!

You could start another X session in another screen with :
startx -- :1

And switch to it with ctrl + alt + F8
switch to screen 0 : ctrl + alt + F7

same for other screen (:2, :3 ...)

Thanks, that works perferctly! Do you know how I could start a program directly in that screen at startup?

By the way, is it possible to do it as a normal user?
