<F2> used to be my pastetoggle key, but I never liked that. I think it's too far away a key that I use too often. Moreover, I installed a macro/plugin that uses up F2 and F3.

So I made my pastetoggle key combo <M-W>.

It kind of works, but not well.

When I'm in command mode, it always seems to work. But then I don't get any visual output, and I often don't know if paste mode is on or off.

When I'm in insert mode, I am supposed to have visual indication of paste mode state, but it always puts me back in command mode (which I don't want), AND sometimes it toggles paste mode, but sometimes it doesn't. It's simply unreliable.

Does someone here know what is going on?

Note: I have also tried <M-E> and the result is very, very similar.

I don't know, but the people on the user mailing list at vim.org probably will - and if you find an answer, post it back here I'd be interested to know, and it would be useful for other people with the same problem.
