video software
Ok, I'm trying to make the conversion to Linux. What I need are software programs for vid. files. I need something to split .avi files (like virtualdub) and something to convert them to burn as vcd (like TMPGEnc). Is there something out there for Linux that can do this?

I am sure there is software that handles video, but I bet it's not easy to use. I still use Windoze for all my video editing... :o

hey sewer_monkey, how about some useful replies?
mplayer can split avi files, and also has a tool to convert to vcd., which uses the transcode suite. transcode also has avisplit and avimerge, but they only seem to work on files encoded by them in the first place |
I use avidemux. But right now it's more for checking if works better than the previous version.Tried to get virtual dub running with wine but no such luck. The dev of virtual dub seems to think about porting it to linux.
