LinuxQuestions.org - Video Issus Using XBMCbuntu and an Old HD CRT television

I will give you some background because that is much more fun than my problem. So I am moving into the apartment that I will shortly share with my wife after we get married in October. I have been trying to build a media serving system for this small apartment that is basically A 50 inch Panasonic plasma in the living room hooked up to an xbox 360 and a htpc with wmc and xbmc and tuning off an antenna. That tv source is being shared to the master bedroom which (hopefully) will be a small form factor pc running xbmcbuntu on an older 30 inch crt television and also and xbox 360 for television and other media (of course). I have about 3 tb of storage running all over the place since I don't have money for a network storage drive.

So my issue is that the crt does not transmit edid. It actually doesn't seem to transmit much of anything from the television. To any computer it does not appear to be connected. I had it attached to my windows machine with an amd card whose software allows you to force the connection. Even this didn't work well because it went back to the old resolution (640x480 or therein) everytime the computer was rebooted. So I have gone through every site I could find to try and force the dvi connection on and turn the Resolution to 1920x1080 at 30 hertz.

So my question after all that is how do I get Linux/Ubuntu/XBMCbuntu to force the dvi connection and to set it to 1080p at 30 hertz. Please help all !
