video doesnt play
 

trying to watch this mpeg video and i cannot see the video. I have tried mplayer, kaffeine, and xine. Sound works fine with all 3 but i cannot see video. I also have tried reinstalling different versions of xine-lib etc.

Kaffeine gave me that error. I am lost

what hardware do you have and what plug ins have you added? did you compile from source or install packages? I would compile mplayer from source and follow the directions explicitly. they are very good and easy to follow. Make sure you install all the deps for the program. I would also get avifile and install that.

well i used pkgtools and i got the mplayer file from linuxpackages

so your computer configuration is a secret :) Video card information speed of computer and stuff might give a clue. run mplayer fromt he command line and give the output of that when you try to play the file.
