Question video card upgrade crashed gnome


i had a perfect install of rh 8.0....untill i changed my video card from a tnt model 64 to a rage128. i can nolonger use a mouse in gnome...i can kinda flip around with tab and arrow keys....but it will not let me reconfigure it. So i reinstalled the tnt2 card....same thing now is happening..
any ideas?

I think you need to reconfigure X.

would that be the same as xf86config?
that is what i have done...and it didnt work...

Checked the drivers, for the card and mouse?
Can you not reconfigure the mouse instead of X?

xf86config reconfigured everything
mouse keyboard monitor and video card...no luck
would kickstart help?
it configures everything....god help me this would be the 6th reinstall in 3 weeks...i could not get it to dual boot the 1st 4 times until the last...which was perfect....memo to self...dont screw with linux as a newbie

If X works fine, and it is just a mouse problem, then lets take a look at the mouse section of /etc/X11/XF86Config

What does it say? Also does /var/log/XFree86.0.log say anything special about the mouse?
