Video Capturing on 64-bit

I have a TV Box that works with Windows 32-bit.

It says only:

Certified Hi-Speed USB2.0 TV BOX
[on the back]
Super USB 2.0 TV BOX
Super Digital Video

I would like to know if there is any software for Linux 64-bit that might work with it and if so, which one is it, please.

Just about any app can be compiled as 64bit but may depend on some dependencies. But first need to make sure the USB device can be seen and may require addtional module to work. posting info from /sbin/lsusb may generate info on the USB device that can be used to search here or on google for required modules.

The USB ports work for USB Flash Drives. So, they should work for this USB TV BOX, shouldn't them?

Another thing, what programs are there to capture video? I've scroogled it, but I couldn't understand what programs are there that do that.

That sounds it's easy, but it's not. Someone told me that there are no drivers for my TV Box for Linux, though... Thanks anyway.

vlc, mplayer, mythtv, xawtv, and several others can interact with a supported tv card, or webcam.

You might be surprised about the support. There's a number of drivers, in various places. So if one doesn't work, try some of the others. Many devices across several brands still share similar guts / chipsets / drivers.

Always check freshmeat.net for supporting software. Not to imply success. And with certain things you can only get there from here by compiling source. And certain HD content requires a hefty CPU. As multi-threading is not yet supported on most codecs. And 64 bit only gets you so far, mostly access to large amounts of ram.

Even with the source sites, it still might be quicker to google. linuxtv.org isn't very organized IMO. working cards are listed according to agenda, not alphabetically, pciids, usbids, or other logical choices. And check back often (changelogs), as it may not be supported today, but it might just be tomorrow.
