VI editor has no colours in FC4

Hi all,
I am using Fedora Core 4.When I login as root and open the vi
<somefile> ,the colours are not displayed.
But when I am in usermode the colors in vi are shown.........
Is this a bug or need to configure something.

Thanks In Advance,
Sailaja Bhandaru.

I am not telling about terminal prompt.
I am concerned about a file opened by using "VI <filename>"
and in that colours.

there should be a file called vimrc in /etc or in $HOME

seeif it is hidden in $HOME

u can copy the option from the non-root user to the root user
