Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hi, I have recently started using VI and VIM as my main text editors, however, I have noticed that the copys installed on my machine behave totally differently to those on a couple of shell providers I host with, I have asked the admins of those shell providers and they say both vi and vim are standard compiles and I have the same version as they do, they suggested that my shell settings may be different ? I'm a tad confused by this, I'd be grateful if someone could help me out !
well, for instance, when I vim a file and then press i to insert text (as I would do on these other systems) the arrow keys which I would normally use to navigate insert letters insted of moving the cursor !
