vesa problem's

i have installed RH8.0 with kernel 2.4.18-14 on my 845glly and acer 1455 monitor.by default linux installed i810 driver for my display.but i was not satisfied with its perfomance.well,i changed it to vesa.it vesa display's all the modes(800x600,640x480,1024x768) in 8 bit depth.but when i use 15 or 16 bit only 640x480 is displayed eventhough 800x600 is the current display in /etc/X11/XF86Config file.moreover when i use 24 bit i cannot start X.it displays some error message

"(EE) VESA(0):NO MODE

(EE)screen's found, but none have usable configuration.

fatal server error:

no screen's found."

so what could be the solution for this, cam i get the native driver for my video board??.
......thank you....

set your video frame buffer to 8MB in the BIOS.
It helps you to run in 16 bit depth
