Very wierd permissions problems.

Hi there,

Recently i've been getting some wierd problems. Firstly I needed to sudo (or su root) to run "halt" or "reboot".

Now, I tried to startx, and it gave me a "you do not have console ownership" error.

"su root" and "startx" worked, as well as "sudo startx"

The thing is I can't think of anything i've done to cause this. The most recent thing i've done is convert my /boot parition to FAT16, but I think my problems started before that.

Weird non?

Cheers

Did you run any hardening apps like for instance Bastille that would change file/authentication permissions?

Nope, I did run some newly downloaded Dockapps, but none like that.
