Very simple qt/SuSE question
I'm using SuSE 8.2 Pro. Yast says I have qt 3.1.1 installed, however there are no header files installed, which I need to ./configure Superkaramba. Doesn't SuSE 8.2 Pro come with the qt development package...or do I need to completely reinstall qt from source? What's the purpose of SuSE providing qt 3.1.1 if you can't find the developer package?????? Even in the KDE menu I go to Administration ? Install software package ? Development ? GUI ? QT Designer, then type in root password...and a window pops up for like 2 microseconds, and that's it, yet I still can't find the header files. I really feel like a dork now.

You definitely have the qt-devel package in suse pro distribution. Open up yast again and do a search for qt in the software section of yast.

I opened up Yast2...click on "install and Remove Software"...then do a search in "qt"...and all it says that qt 3 package is installed, that's it.
I went to SuSE and found, under download/KDE development packages, the RPM files of qt3-devel, qt3-devel-doc, and qt3-devel-tools, and downloaded all three. Should I try and install these, or will this version (3.3.0) conflict with what came with SuSE (3.1.1)? |
Well? It can't be that hard....someone...anyone...Beuler....Beuler....

I'm very surprised that your search didn't list qt3-devel on a recent suse pro distro.
I can only assume you had some search options deselected Yast2 > Install and Remove Software Filter: Search Search In: Name Seach Mode: Contains you enter "qt" in the box and come up with only one package? There should be at least a dozen listed. I'm going to assume that installing qt3-devel 3.3.0 is going to cause trouble with qt3 3.1.1, but I'm not certain. |
I did exactly what you said, and I get only two packages listed: qt3 and yast2-qt. Messed up huh?
I did manage to download the base qt3 v3.3.0 RPM...is this everything I need to perform an update to qt3? |
