I'm using Gentoo with Wine 20040121 trying to install the latest Ventrilo Windows client. Everytime I run the install program it quickly closes with no messages, so i decided to run the debug command and this is what i received:

i dont know too much about wine, but i know there is a new build in portage that is almost two months older although come to think of it im using ~x86 so perhaps it hasnt made it to the stable tree yet, try emerging the masked version

also have you tried checking www.winehq.org and www.frankscorner.org these are the most likely place to find how to make it work

Yeah that was the first place I checked, they cover the audio codec problem making no mention of install problems which the newest version of wine in ~x86 did not solve. Several other Gentoo users have reported similar problems in the forums but no one has presented any solutions

Where did you find the metion of how to fix the audio codec. I cant figure out how to get the GSM 6.01 audio codec into it.. got a hint for me?

The new ventrillo client uses .msi windows installer. Now getting it to complete is another story.
