Question Variables

Hi

I can't start kde3.0 from linux because DISPLAY varible is not set and i've tried setting it to ":0" and ":0 local /usr/X11R6/bin/X", but kde still doesn't start. KDE only launches from X and when i'm in kde, i type echo $DISPLAY and it displays: :0.0. I've tried setting Display variable to :0.0 in linux, but i couldn't launch kde.

I searched on the internet, but it didn't help.
Does anyone know what do i have to set $DISPLAY variable to?

Also, when i add /usr/local/kde/bin to $PATH, it sets, but when i reboot my computer, I have to add /usr/local/kde/bin to $PATH again.
I use PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/kde/bin. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I really don't know what to do.

Thanks for help

DISPLAY should be set by kde, I think.
Your path problem: add the line setting the right path to your .bash_profile (for one user) or to /etc/profile (for all users).
