Unhappy V4L2 RF Signal Booster?

Is there such a thing as a software RF Signal Booster? I've already bought a cheap (!) local made booster, and it does work too, but the reception is patchy at best and I still can't get channels at the end of the spectrum.

I googled and googled, and apparently there is software available for boosting radio signals through the v4l2 interface, but I couldn't find anything for television.

Any ideas? Is such a thing even possible?

You can't boost a radio wave in software to any extent. You need to look at the entire signal path between broadcaster and your receiver. Simple things can help a lot. Look at any of the resources available for your local area. It may be antenna companies offering free site advice or government sites. Many product web sites offer guidance. Basically you need to match location to your entire collection and distribution devices.
