/usr/sbin/gpsd -n /dev/ttyS0 to run automatically like a service?

Hi All,

How can I set /usr/sbin/gpsd -n /dev/ttyS0 to run automatically like a service?

I think it has to be started /usr/sbin/gpsd -n -N /dev/ttyS0 else it falls back to nobody.

Only issue is in a shell if you /usr/sbin/gpsd -n -N /dev/ttyS0, it 'busys' up the shell as it is running. If you close the shell or do a break it stops running.

Just worried if its started as /usr/sbin/gpsd -n -N /dev/ttyS0 in a startup script its going to hang the script, it really needs to be 'run'.

Thanks!

Add the ampersand symbol after the command.
/usr/sbin/gpsd -n /dev/ttyS0 &

That leave it running in the background. Seen your post on this and never thought of a good idea.
