using the mac gui for linux
i'm hoping not to get badly flamed, but i would like to know if there exists a port of the mac os x interface (aqua) for linux (specifically ubuntu), and since i know that macs are now on x86, porting should be easy, should it not? i know that quartz would not work, but basically a gui that looks like the mac os x gui would be really good (as i prefer the mac interface)
if there is not port, is there a way to get gnome to look like os x? |
in KDE you can
if you want to use KDE, you can make it look very close to OSX: baghira.sourceforge.net/OS_Clone-en.php

You can't run aqua on Linux, but you can configure GNOME or KDE to look like MacOS. You can get the themes from kde-look.org and gnome-look.org.

ok, so running aqua is a dud. but why wouldn't aqua run? i mean, it's all linux/unix, right? or am i a totally wrong :newbie:
i'm still kinda new to linux... |
aqua might run fine but it would need re-compiled for your platform from source. right now I'm pretty sure that source code is unavailable. I suggest you urge apple to go open source.
