Question Using stow with .tar.gz

I have installed stow to help me install packages, in this case
pingpong-ABC bittorrent client. I have tried google and the man pages, but
I can't find any description I understand. Here's the first lines of the
man pages:

NAME
stow - software package installation manager

SYNOPSIS
stow [options] package...

What kind of file is a package wich the man pages referes to?

I am trying to install this file: ABC-Linux-V.2.4.3-alpha.tar.gz
OS: Mandrake 10.0 with kernel 2.6.3-7mdk

Regards Vegard!

I'm not familiar with stow, but From what you said it sounds like you would run

stow [options] ABC-Linux-V.2.4.3-alpha.tar.gz

You can do a
stow -h most likely to get a list of available options....

I dont see how this is any easier then going...

gunzip ABC-Linux-V.2.4.3-alpha.tar.gz
tar xf ABC-Linux-V.2.4.3-alpha.tar
cd ABC-Linux-V.2.4.3

Might be a LITTLE bit more typing, but not much, espically if your able to tab out the rest of your line......
