Using putty on windows connecting to Linux

Hello all, please help me on this.

I have Redhat Ent 3 server, and we created a dos/unix like menu system on this server where you navigate on this menu system with arrow keys and enter, delete and escape keys.
The emulation in the users .profile is set to vt100 on the server.

Our users use Windows machines with Putty ssh/telnet client.
Telnet is not setup on this server but the users ssh into the box.
All works fine but once they are in the menu system the numpad on the keyboard does not work, but the rest of the keyboard works fine.

I have tried SecureCrt and experienced no such problems with it. the numpad works fine then.
The users cannot use SecureCrt due to our licencing policies, so we are now stuck with putty.

I can only think that the problem is with putty settings but I have tried almost all variables in putty to no avail.
We are using putty release 0.58.

Please help

Thank you

Is putty set to emulate a vt100 terminal as well?

In Putty try this:
terminal --> features part, check the first 2 boxes.

You might also have todo this:
terminal --> keyboard --> the backspace key, mark the control-H
