I just installed (unzipped and compiled) parted, but I can't seem to get it working.
Every time I type 'parted', I get a message 'command not found'.
What did I forget?
This is the precise error I get (I have to go upstairs to the Linux computer every time, and then over here again, to find out online what I'm doing wrong ): Error while loading shared libraries: libparted-1.6.so.0: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory.
Edit: And thanks for the help
Are you actually doing LFS or using some
common distro? I don't know which settings
you used for the prefix when compiling parted,
but chances are that the target directory for its
libraries is not known to the ld-path ... have a
look at /etc/ld.so.conf and check whether libparted
is in a directory that's mentioned there.

I'm working on LFS, but I'm still in the preparation fase, using VectorLinux (a slackware derivative).
I found the directory where the library resides, it's in: /usr/local/lib
