Using local mouse and keyboard with tightvncserver.
I am looking for some pointers here as I've a feeling there's something really simple I am missing.
I want to be able to start a tightvnc session on my Pi so that I can view (and preferably control) it from my iPad but also use a mouse and/or keyboard plugged into the Pi itself to control the same session. The aim being to use the iPad as nice portable screen for the Pi but be able to use a plugged-in USB keyboard and mouse for any "real work".
I have tried using the "-viewonly" option to tightvncserver with a mouse plugged into the Pi but the mouse does not control the remote display. I would also rather not lose the ability to control the display remotely using my iPad or a PC.
I can, as things stand, attach to the same VNC session from a PC and the iPad and get almost the functionality I want but I'd rather not have to do that.
Has anyone does what I want or does anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry, I thought I had mentioned but it seems not -- the Pi is running headless so in effect I would want to use the iPads the primary monitor. Is there a way to do that with one of those? They seem to be for sharing the existing X session.
I've tried x2vnc on my EEE but it doesn't seem to be able to control the session on the iPad, whereas vinagre can.
