I have a crummy old 486 laptop that I want to compile stuff on.... but it is PAINFULLY slow. I also have a really fast water cooled linux box that I could use.
Both are currently 2.4.20 Slackware 9.0, and are on my home network.
I use distcc EXACTLY (substituting my hostnames or IP's for red green blue, I tried both) according to the 30 second faq on the www.distcc.org site. However, I usually get a jobserver unavailable error, and it proceeds to compile on the slow 75mhz 486, instead of the 2.5ghz Athlon.
Is there some bit of magic? I've tried with both Image Magick and the 2.4.22 kernel.
