Using Clark connect

Hello,

I currently use clark connect as my Gateway. I need to change my public IP and my my isp said that there is nothing they can do since it is Dynamic. Is there anyway VIA clarkconnect or linux in general to force a DHCP renewel from my provider.

If not is there a way to see where the current DHCP address would expire.

I already posted this message over at CC's website but have not yet received a response and I need one ASAP.

thanks

1) Go to: www.ipchicken.com --> write down your current IP
2) Unplug your ADSL/Cable modem for 20 seconds (power cycle) and then re-connect... that should clear the current IP. If it does not then leave your modem unplugged for 3 to 5 minutes and try again - this should clear the MAC address stored in the modem and request a new IP from your ISP. The ISP may not assign a new IP, it will depend on there settings so I cannot guarntee this will work however with my provider Shaw, this works.
3) Go back to www.ipchicken.com and see if your IP address has changed.

PS: from your post I gather you are trying to change the IP address at the ISP level and not your internal network... if this is not the case than post back with reply.

Thanks for your help but this did not work. The IP is tied to the MAC on my clark connect box is seems. Im not going to stress this issue anymore though.

Well if you leave the modem unplugged is should clear the MAC address of your Network Card on the Clark Connect box. If you can afford to have the system offline then unplugg both the power and network cord for at least 5 minutes..... if you can leave it off over night than try that to!

I guess if your ISP only provides you with one Dynamic IP address thi won't work. Have you confirmed with them that you have multiple Dynamic IP's?
