using and installing wine in ubuntu 9.04


Hi

Since the upgrade to 9.04, I have been unable to use wine. When I invoke the emulator, the screen flashes for about 30 secs and sometimes does not stop meening that I have to do a reboot. Can anybody help please.

Ubuntu 9.04
Dell inspiron 530
(came from dell pre-installed with ubunto 8.10)

What version of wine are you currently using? Have you checked in Synaptic package manager for a newer version? If you decide to use Synaptic the first thing to do is click reload to update your list of available applications.

wine 9.04

Hi thanks for your input. Just re-loaded wine using the add/remove option in ubuntu. version installed is 1.0.1, still has same problem.

Start the emulator from commandline and paste the error output (if any) to this thread.

Hi

no errors reported. I am now starting to think it may be a problem with the graphics driver not working correctly with 9.04. I have since found the same problem with another program. I will have to do some investigation through Dell I think unless you know of a quicker route?
