I'm using Apache 2.0 ADVX under Mandrake 9.1.
I'd like to enable the UserDir, so I can have users access their own web page content by typing 192.168.0.99/~username.

I edited commonhttpd.conf (line 906 to make sure the <directory /home/*/public_html> was uncommented.

I created a public_html directory under /home/roger/public_html/index.html.

Yet when I call 192.168.0.99/~roger/index.html, I get page not found.

I find that may be the ADVX that installed with Mandrake a bit confusing because 2 servers are installed, and being anewbie, there's plenty to learn anyway.

Anyone got any thoughts on what I may have done wrong, or forgotten to do???

I have the same problem. I'll post back if I fix it!

Check the permissions on your ~/public_html/ directory. They should be drwxr-xr-x. If not, try the following:

# cd
# chmod 755 public_html
