User Doesn't Exist: dovecot
Dovecot is giving me problems on a Redhat FC4 server. I can start the server manually at the command line from the /etc/rc.d/init.d item that the Dovecot RPM installed, no hiccups whatsoever. However, the server will not start automatically on boot.
I'm not a Linux pro by any means, so I use Webmin to manage bootup and shutdown items. If I try to start the action manually through the Webmin interface, the action fails with the following:
Executing /etc/rc.d/init.d/dovecot start ..
Starting Dovecot Imap: Fatal: Login user doesn't exist: dovecot
[FAILED]
I've checked and there IS a user "dovecot". I've even gone so far as to remove and recreate the user and group for "dovecot", as I found in a forum posting elsewhere.
I appreciate any help I can receive, as I'm pulling my hair out here, and I'm too young to be bald!
Thanks,
Kevin
