use windows dll files with WINE

Hi,
I just wanted to know whether it is possible to use my default winxp/98 dll libraries instead of the ones provided by wine. I am facing a lot of problems configuring wine for more recent applications. Can this solve my problem. Has anyone tried this before.

Thanks.

Yes, it should work. Last time I used wine, it was not recommended to use WinXP dll's, but 98 was fine. Take a look into wine's homepage and I'm sure you will dig some info from there.

Another good place to search for tutorials is Frank's Corner:

http://frankscorner.org/

it sometimes tells if you should or not use native dll's and in rare cases, even the dll's are available for downloading.

Regards!

Thanks a lot for the reply. just checked out the wine documentation. Ideally is to possible to achieve 100% compatibility if I use the libraries from my windows installation ?. Hope i am not streching it too far.

Regards.

You're welcome mate. I hope you get 'em to work. Still, take a look in this table of replacements for Linux:

http://www.linuxrsp.ru/win-lin-soft/table-eng.html

chances are, there'll be an equivalent application for Linux which runs natively for you ;)

Good luck!
