use proxy to forward from a port to another

Hi,

I am currently aboard and the ISP here seems to block all traffic on port 25, which is great because I can't send any mail.

There is a server back at the office which I have SSH-access to with Squid installed. I figured that there could be a way to use this server to get forwarded to my SMTP-servers. Is there?

TIA
Alex

what kind of access are you after? sending email out? receiving it? squid will certainly never help, but you could just use an ssh tunnel in itself to pass things through it to get out to other smtp servers. Quite an abuse of work resources though...

I've never used ssh-tunneling, but I suspect it works only with Linux. I have WinXP on my notebook (from which I would like to send mails).

There might be people that work even if they're not in the office.

Wow, that's a really negative way to get help... good luck.

sorry about that, I recon I went a little sour there. It just sets me off when I get the impression that someone does not read properly what I write and just hasty throws an mostly usless reply out there. It happens a LOT lately.

I know nobody is paid to participate in forums and I have no right to any kind of help, but I find that kind of replies just as harmful to forums as my last one. After all it should be fun.
