Use mdadm create raid-5 with parity error
I'm creating a raid-5 with parity as follows:
mdadm --create /dev/md1 --level=5 --raid-devices=4 --chunk=4 --parity=left-asymmetric /dev/sdb2 /dev/sdc2 /dev/sdb3 /dev/sdc3 And it shows such message: mdadm: layout may only be sent once. Second value was left-asymmetric The command's return value is 2, and the raid-5 device isn't created. My system is : Suse Linux Enterprise Server 9 (i586) mdadm's ver : mdadm - v1.5.0 - 22 Jan 2004 If I do the same thing by mdadm - v1.3.0 - 29 Jul 2003 or lower, it works well. And if I get rid of the --parity=left-asymmetric, it also works well on both mdadm versions. Is there anyone could tell me why???? Thanks. |
Sorry, I got it.
It is a bug of 1.5.0, and it had been fixed in 1.7.0.
