use linux to answer the phone with

my cordless phone just broke and instead of buying a new one, i was wondering if there is any software out there that i can use to answer my phone through my modem with linux. NOT and answering machine, but actually to physically answer the phone when it (or my computer) rings.

anyone know of any?

do a search for telephony and linux on this forum
and on google.

and look through the kernel configuration... there's an option to compile in some telephony features

I'm no sure what they offer, as I've never been interested in it.

But that's one thing worth checking out.
