usb-rndis-lite and syncE and PDA's. ...missing cdc_ether.

When trying to install usb-rndis-lite I'm getting these errors during the sudo ./clean command.

Code:
ERROR: Module rndis_host does not exist in /proc/modules
ERROR: Module cdc_ether does not exist in /proc/modules
ERROR: Module usbnet does not exist in /proc/modules
However, I don't know where rndis_host, cdc_ether and usbnet modules are...

I've got the headers for my kernel... so this is the result a search

Code:
m@m-desktop:/lib$ sudo find -name cdc*
./modules/2.6.17-10-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/class/cdc-acm.ko
./modules/2.6.17-10-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/net/cdc_ether.ko
./modules/2.6.17-10-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/net/cdc_subset.ko
./modules/2.6.17-11-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/class/cdc-acm.ko
./modules/2.6.17-11-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/net/cdc_subset.ko
You can see they exist in the older kernel headers... (the older ones won't modprobe).

any ideas?
I've already reinstalled the headers-generic.
(incidentally, I'm trying to install syncE).
