USB read error in virtual guest Scientific Linux 6.0

I'm using Scientific Linux 6.0 in VirtualBox on a Windows 7 host.

Now, I want to work with files on my USB stick but it's not being read by Scientific Linux. It was detected/read on just one occasion and even then was usable only when I ran <chmod 777> on it.

Here's the error:-

usb 1-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71

How can I get my USB drive to work??

Thanks

The VirtualBox OSE edition does not support USB devices. You need the PUEL edition: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/VirtualBox_PUEL

ok frankbell.. I added the USB filter as mentioned and in Devices in menu bar of VBox, the state for my JetFlash Mass Storage media says "Captured". But still, there's nothing in /media/

When I run ll in /media , it says "total 0". Why is this so?

I figured out the problem and it works now!

Actually the problem was that it was being read but not mounted, which is quite obvious.
Nevertheless, I didn't know where to find USB drive in /dev , so I Googled and found out that the link to USB's block device can be found from files (links) in /dev/disks/

There were links that said "JetFlash Transcend..." and pointed to /dev/sdb1, which gave me info that my USB drive block device is /dev/sdb1.

Then I simply added its entry in /etc/fstab
